condemn the one who hears it

Don't let the face fool you- I am not the Doctor's pathetic companion. I am the Master. Though I'm still stuck as a human, I've got control of this body and have no plans to let the Roman back in. My strength is rapidly returning, and you will fear me.

Anonymous sent: Do you still get Rory's thoughts sometimes?

Not actual thoughts per say. Not even feelings, really… It’s difficult to describe  He’s there, somewhere and I’m vaguely aware of his presence, but I don’t think he’s thinking anything anymore. I certainly don’t have a commentary from him going on in my head.

No.

  • What does their bedroom look like?

You should know that I actually have excessively detailed headcanon on sleep in general, both for Time Lords in general and on the Master. Since the only established canon I think we have is that Time Lords sleep less than humans, I decided to make the rules more specific in my head. As a baseline, I say they need about an hour or two every 48 hours. However, that’s flexible, and they can sleep less or more often than that, it just changes the duration they sleep. Technically they could go a really stupidly long amount of time if they wanted, but once you get to like, a month without sleep it’s hard to function properly. The equivalent of a human going a couple days, really. In my head, the Master really doesn’t like sleeping. He doesn’t want to go to the trouble of going to bed and waiting to fall asleep, so he goes awhile between sleeping. He definitely waits until he’s too tired to be picky about where he’s sleeping. He just kind of finds a room with a relatively soft horizontal surface every two weeks or so and passes out. (If the TARDIS is feeling nice, she’ll send him somewhere with a bed.) So this is a really long, roundabout way of saying he doesn’t really have one.

  • Do they have any daily rituals?

Hard to answer, considering he lives on a time machine and doesn’t sleep often enough to use that as a day marker. Days blend together very quickly if he doesn’t do anything interesting. And then there’s the matter of different planets he visits having different length of day. Interestingly enough though, he does take a daily shower (whatever length of time ‘daily’ might be at the moment).

  • Do they exercise, and if so, what do they do? How often?

Not really. His life involves a lot of running around, he doesn’t see any need to go to a gym on top of that.

Rory died during the Year That Never Was. The Master wasn’t sure whether he should laugh or cry. (He doesn’t remember it now, and it’s probably for the best. Save him the embarrassment.)

The Master kept Rory’s centurion armor. He kinda likes it.

As much as the Master says he dislikes the drums, if he ever lost them, he’d be terrified. He doesn’t know just how loud silence can be when you’re alone. Besides, it’s a lot easier to not care when you can’t hear your own guilt.

The Master’s Regeneration

While on Gallifrey, stuck in the time lock, the Master came across a crack in the universe. It was a long shot, but he was determined not to die with the rest of his kind, so he stole the first TARDIS he could get his hands on. She’s old- he’s not entirely sure what model, but he suspects she might even be older than a type 40- and at first he wasn’t sure if she was up to the task. Escaping a time like through such a hairline fracture in the skin of the universe should be impossible. Like threading twine through a needle. Still though, he tried, and she did it. Barely, but she did. However, the force of escaping the time lock was too much for both of them. Not only did it cause the TARDIS to need to reset herself, but it caused the Master to regenerate. He’s currently on his eighteenth body.

The way the Master is pushing to escape the watch won’t properly bring him back if he succeeds. It will cause his mind to take over, yes, but it won’t change his body. He’d better hope Rory’s got the watch on him if he ever manages to push through, because if not, it’ll act like a meta-crisis. Just like Donna, his mind will burn and he will die.

In The Doctor’s Wife when House asked why he shouldn’t kill Amy and Rory right there, the Master had a very proud moment when Rory answered “Because killing us quickly wouldn’t be any fun!”

Headcanon

This isn’t a Rory!Master headcanon. This is a purely Master headcanon, dealing specifically with his thoughts on Lucy Saxon.

Lucy began as a tool. He could’ve won the election on his own, but a pretty blonde at his side made it all the easier. Besides, he found her devotion to him amusing. The plan was always to kill her along with the president. Strangely though, he found himself not wanting to kill her. And so, he didn’t. He invented excuses as to why he hadn’t done it, and assured himself she’d die soon.

“She’ll die tomorrow. I’m busy today.”

“I’ll kill her in a few days. I’m just not in the mood right now.”

“I listen to no one. Not even myself. Therefor, I will disobey the plan and not kill her.”

“Her dress matches the carpet and it’s aesthetically pleasing.”

He made (increasingly-ridiculous) excuses for the entire year, not wanting to kill her but refusing to entertain the possibility that he’s developed feelings for her. After all, the Master loves no one. Love is weakness; if anything, Lucy is a perfect example of this.

It was this denial of his feelings (among other things) that lead to his mistreatment and abuse of her. By hitting her, he was showing himself that obviously he didn’t care about her. You wouldn’t hurt someone you cared about. The more he worried he might have feelings for her, the more he rejected them by treating her as badly, if not worse, than he treated everybody else.

I wanna stick to writing just about Rory!Master on this account, so if you want more of my thoughts on Simm!Master, you can get it in the form of fanfic on my AO3 account.
